From 24 to 26 July 2019, the International Conference on Biosphere and Sustainability was held in Puerto Princesa. Organized by the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), the conference brought together many local and international stakeholders on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
The first day was dedicated to presentations by international and national experts who opened discussions on many topics such as city architecture, management of UNESCO-listed sites, wastewater treatment and creation of carbon-free companies, or environmental education. At the end of the day, about thirty posters were exhibited, covering extremely varied and rich themes as well.
The second day was devoted to the presentations of local actors, divided into four themes that took place in parallel. During this day, Agathe, our scientific officer, was allowed to present the work done by ABConservation in Palawan in the theme of ecological and biophysical systems. This congress also allowed us to meet many potential local partners: high school teachers, university directors, zoologists from different associations,… Many e-mails were exchanged with the aim to create new partnerships in order to facilitate the further development of the association’s projects.
We would like to thank the various organizers of this congress, and in particular the PCSD, for allowing us to present the results of our two first years of study in Palawan.
