For the first time, ABConservation was invited to participate in the endangered species days organized in the Parc animalier D’Auvergne by La Passerelle Conservation. During these two days, the visitors could enroll in many activities whose profits would be donated to two NGO, ABConservation and the Red-Panda network. On May 30th and 31th, Agathe, the Scientific Officer and Romaric, a volunteer, have embarked for two crazy days.
Presentation of the binturong, quiz and games for children, sale of goodies and explanations in front of the enclosure of Fifi and Bangka, our small team has been busy for two days to raise awareness of the binturong as much as possible, and also of the threats to this endangered animal. Luckily, the two binturongs performed on Thursday in their wooded enclosure, giving the visitors the opportunity to observe their incredible agility and to illustrate the words of our animators.
Moreover, our scientific officer and co-President had the opportunity to be interviewed on live on France Bleu Pays d’Auvergne to explain to the listeners what the binturong is and what are the conservation stakes. An interview that you can listen to once again here
To conclude, despite a quite cold weather on Thursday, largely caught up by a beautiful sun throughout the Friday, visitors were interested and involved – with a special mention for children – to learn more about this particular species.
We would therefore like to warmly thank La Passerelle Conservation, and especially Nicia, for the organization of these days as well as the Parc Animalier d’Auvergne and the whole team that welcomed us warmly and whose involvement in conservation is hearthened.
