La Fête de la Nature, launched in 2009 by the French branch of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and Terre Sauvage magazine, is a festival inviting the public to come and meet fauna and flora through activities held by organizations involved in nature conservation.
Along with other associations, ABConservation was proud to be selected to take part in this year’s Fête de la Nature, organised by the National Muséum of Wildlife History at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, from the 20th to the 22nd of May 2016.
Over three days, the association held a stand in the Jardin des Plantes, giving visitors the opportunity to discover the binturong through various workshops. This event allowed us to meet visitors and to raise awareness among young people, especially through school visits on Friday and our activities for children at the weekend.
Students aged from 9 to 13 took part in our school visits. They discovered the binturong and learned about conservation. Pupils were asked to find solutions to the threats binturongs face in the wild, and come up with ideas to improve the welfare of animals held in captivity in zoological parks.
