We are happy to share the latest updates with you: we’ve obtained the official research permit to conduct the Bearcat Study Program here in Palawan! The first stage of this study consists of setting up camera-traps in the treetops, between 10 and 20 meters high, and allows us to collect data to determine the presence of bearcat in the chosen study environment. The second stage, which will start in February 2018, will be radio tracking of the bearcat. This step will allow us to collect more data about the ecology, biology, and behavior of the binturong. As of now, we have collected enough money to follow only one bearcat in February 2018, but we hope that, before the end of this year, we will collect the necessary funds so we can track 4 bearcats.
