For the third consecutive year, ABConservation participated in the “Weekend de la Conservation” organized by Les Amis du Zoo de Lyon in the Parc de la Tête d’Or, with over 15 NGOs sharing a common goal: raising public awareness about the preservation of fauna worldwide.
New this year, the park now houses two binturongs. Indeed, Boka was recently joined by a young female, and we wish them many cubs for the years to come.
For this very sunny weekend’s agenda, we focused on the giant binturong board game, the one we have tested at the “Fête de la Nature” last May. Of course, as in our previous interventions, kids had free access to coloring sheets and animal masks to cut out.
Regarding the face painting for children, we merged with our friends of the CPPR (“Connaître et Protéger le Panda Roux”- Understand and Protect the Red Panda) who had a larger team, which enabled us to have more time to talk about the binturong and to raise public awareness.
This weekend was very pleasant thanks to the presence of CPPR, and was also profitable as the sales of binturong merchandise helped us raise 207€.
We wish to give our warmest thanks to all the staff of the zoological park and Les Amis du Zoo de Lyon for their welcome. Special thanks go to the vice-chairman of the CPPR, Anne-Gwenaelle, for wearing the ABConservation t-shirt on Saturday (without her, our president would have been on her own). Finally, massive thanks to Vérane (CPPR) and her mother for hosting us over the weekend.
Thanks to the Zoo de Lyon, Les Amis du Zoo de Lyon and the CPPR!
